Vaginal Odor After Sex

Many women experience increased vaginal odor after sex and want to know why?

Some of my earlier posts have explained this but here is a whole post devoted to the reason why.

My earlier posts talked about how a woman's healthy vagina has a slightly acidic nature to help support a good environment for the "good" bacteria.

And that when your vagina becomes less acidic and more alkaline it is more likely to support an overgrowth of the "bad" odor causing bacteria that leads to the state called Bacterial Vaginosis.

Now why would your vaginal odor or fishy smell become more pronounced after sex?

A man's sperm needs a slightly alkaline environment to protect it from the normaly acidic environment of the vagina.

So when a man's alkaline sperm comes in contact with an "unhealthy" vagina (a vagina that has already become too alkaline and developed Bacterial Vaginosis) then it is very easy for the alkaline sperm to stimulate or provide an even better environment for more bad bacteria.

The "bad" bacteria have suddenly found their home to be a better place to live and so they can increase in numbers temporarily causing a rise your vaginal odor.
