Bacterial Vaginosis Symptoms

Bacterial vaginosis is very simply an overgrowth or excess of the wrong type of bacteria.

Different kinds of bacteria live in and on our bodies. Some help us and some can hurt us.

When something occurs to throw the bacterial balance out of whack, to much of a "bad" bacteria in our vagina can cause bacterial vaginosis.

There can be a variety of symptoms and you may experience some, all or none of them.

Some of the most common symptoms of bacterial vaginosis are
  • Odor. Some type of strange odor comming from your vagina. Often described as fishy but other women smell onions, garlic and related strong smells.
  • Itching. Sometimes there will be mild itching but it is rarely severe.
  • Burning. Again some women may experience a mild burning sensation.
  • Discharge. Usually the discharge (if you have any) tends to be mild and can appear gray to yellow.
As stated before you can have bacterial vaginosis and not even really have any of the obvious symptoms.

But by far the most common symptom and the most embarrassing is the vaginal odor.
